type='text'>#34 : PAYM Convention

I attended the PAYM Convention at Suntec Convention Centre. It was scheduled to start at 1.30p.m. I met up with Jingkai to go together. We took a cab as we were late and we arranged to meet Alex, Bernice, Chee Meng, Michael at the lobby. When Jingkai and I reached, we saw Jiayi and Esther at the second floor and gestured them to come down. Then together we made our way to the convention hall on the sixth floor. We registered first and got our tag and lanyard. Maybe we could use it for Christmas Carnival. Hahaha... We then waited for Jeffrey to join us. I told Jingkai to go to the side counter to ask for the orange PAYM shirt and Chee Meng and Michael went too to get a set for Andrew and Jeffrey. After Jeffrey arrived, we went in to get a table and we were short of a seat. Jeffrey 'volunteered' to go first LoL so there was us five guys sitting in one table and the three gals sitting in another.

While waiting for the Convention to start, Bernice came over and asked me to request for the three gals who we did not know to change seats with them so all eight of us could sit together. I was not sure how to get the ball rolling. I asked the gal in the middle who happened to be looking in my direction and I tried using my most humble tone to get my request. LoL I succeeded! and I acted like a gentleman by helping them to shift their glasses.

Gurmit Singh was the host for the day and he was very good. Before Mr Teo Chee Hian, The Guest of Honour arrived, he played some games and we 'sabo' Chee Meng. He was to go on stage and compete with the representative of the other side of the hall the longest sound with one breath. Chee Meng shouted very loudly and he only 'survived' 15 seconds. LoL The other guy lasted 20 seconds. Not long after the convention started with the singing of the National Anthem. It was followed by a skit presentation of the PAYM route to present. There was a short tea break and we wolfed down the sandwiches and cookies ahaha. Andrew SMSed me saying that he is not coming over anymore as he is very tired and drunk. -_-''' Next was the presentation by the Chairman and two Vice-Chairmen of the Central Youth Council, the decision-making body of PAYM about the recommendations made by YEC members across Singapore. Then it was DINNER TIME !!!

We wanted to take a picture with Gurmit Singh before going down to the gallery for dinner but we are pressed for time and there were too many people queuing. On top of that, the police is cordoning off the area soon for the PAP Conference. So we went down for dinner soon. As Jiayi, Esther and Bernice got to go down first since they are ladies, we got a table to ourselves and we went to get the food. I took more than my fair share as I thought we will be sharing so in the end I ate them myself. We finally got to take a picture with Gurmit Singh and he was a gentleman and very friendly.

After the dinner, we chatted about the Christmas decoration and walked around Suntec to have a look at the Christmas decoration and see what we could buy. In the end, it was arranged that Bernice, Jingkai and I will go to Concourse to buy the decorations while Jiayi will decorate the CC with the help of the campers on Tuesday.

Finally the funds for the SuperNova Christmas Carnival was approved but it is not sure when we can get our hands on the funds. Sigh... Time is running out and there are so many things to do. I am really very tied up by all these. Three weeks is a very short period. PENGZ!

#41 : Meeting

We had a SuperNova Christmas Carnival meeting today at 7 p.m. The funds from Young Change Makers are not officially approved yet and that got me stuck. I also have to wait for Yaoxing to transfer me the funds even if we got the funds. So no choice, we have to settle the other stuff except the purchasing. It was a VERY rowdy meeting, I guessed they like it that way and I think I need panadol soon.

I started with the Haunted House sub-com. They were all prepared with everything except the purchasing and some minor details. Next was the refreshment side. More was to be done with the fondue and popcorn and candy floss to be settled. Then the Games Room. Absolutely rowdy and noisy. Funny how two girls can make so much noice. We have to go down again to confirm the games, set the rules and decide the prizes. Then the 'War' Games. Since Kevin is working alone at the moment, I have to help him more with it regarding the rules and preparation. Safety and Security is fine, with the lanyards being settled by Yingchee (In the end she told me she didn't have enough, LoL) and the namelist of all the manpower we have and the first aiders breifing on the actual day. After that, I mentioned to them about the SmartTutition (I wonder how many will sign up) and the CC decorations. I split them into two groups and we tried to gather some ideas. Ken said the decorations have to be up by Sunday. Trouble Trouble Trouble. We'll try then.

After the meeting, I went to meet Daniel for a late dinner and went to his place to slack for a while. I walked home later. I still have to attend the PAYM convention later. Bother.

#40 : Updates 2 (Camp STAR)

Something to add to the Camp STAR;

After we went to 7-11 to buy alcoholic drinks during the first night, we went to play cards in the canteen and Andrew's face turned very red. We didn't have beer and his face was actually redder than mine when I am not a good drinker at all. And he kept saying 'Wa Bo Zui' ( I Am Not Drunk )

I found that Andrew is quite a sicko. Similar to SuperNova Camp, whenever the facilitators and campers had their meals, there were lots of meal boxes to be cleared. The rubbish bins will be filled to the brim with all these lunch and dinner boxes and it is quite a physical task to clear them. I should know; I did it for SuperNova Camp!!! Funny how Logistics I/C has to clear them (Clearing lunch and dinner boxes are related to logistics???)

Anyway, after helping to clear part of the rubbish, Hyder (Camp Assistant Main Coordinator) found many traces of ants crawling to the rubbish bins and they had a hard time getting rid of the ants. We used water to wash them away but soon, more ants will make their way towards the rubbish bins. So our dear Andrew got the boiling water in the kettle and poured the scalding water onto the ants, killing them. It's fine if he did it once or twice BUT he seemed to make it a habit and continuously boiled water and poured onto the ants. And he really seemed to enjoy killing the ants.

He did that during the second night and during the third day he was at it again. What's funny is that he scalded himself once when he poured the water and he actually blamed the ants for it. -_-''' And he continued the 'ritual'. I presumed he must have killed thousands of ants by these numerous boiling and pouring. It was organised mostly by the Sports Secretariat of the YEC. Lasted from 24-26 November 2006. I was aching all over and slightly under the weather. It seemed like one long day as we didn't really sleep during the whole duration. Overall, the camp was not bad and quite fun but unlike Andrew, Alex, Chee Meng and Michael who were facilitators, I was a coordinator so we had different experiences. I was basically the basketball and camp coordinator and Cassandra, Desmond and I are in the 'Breakfast Department' Haha. We have to prepare the bread and spread jam and kaya for the 20-odd campers. In the end, Cassandra and I didn't even feel like having breakfast.

I reached the camp which is held in Ping Yi Secondary School in the early evening. They were playing tchoukball then. Desmond and I hang around until Alex and Andrew came at night. We then had some food before we went to join them in the AVA. We didn't really sleep and Cassandra, Michael, Desmond, Andrew and I went to the 7-11 nearby and bought some alcoholic drinks and a deck of cards. (That deck of cards was the beginning of some mental torture) We then went back to the school canteen and played 'Big 2'. One of the camper then complained of chest pain and I asked Andrew and Cassandra to attend to her as beside me, Andrew was the only one with a First Aid cert. It seemed nothing major, probably due to the tchoukball exercise earlier in the day. We told her to rest and monitored her situation.

Later some (no no ...... MOST) of the campers complained of hunger as they whined that the dinner's portion was too little and too spicy. I told them to rest first while we tried to get some food. I called Rezal, the camp's main coordinator and he said they will be fine. However he got some biscuits back when I mentioned it to him the second time. Alas, after getting scolded by Rezal, they went to sleep and only a couple of them wanted the biscuits. Well no choice, if they really got gastrics problems because of this, we would have been in deep trouble.

The next day was learning sessions for football, floorball and basketball. They started the morning session for football. Steven Tan, from Tampines Rovers FC was their guest coach. He was a former National Team player and was known as the 'Super Sub'. They seemed to enjoy the session, with Michael and Chee Meng taking part too. After lunch was learning sessions for floorball and basketball. They split into two groups of two teams. First session of basketball was for White and Green teams.

I got Eugene, Xiao Bai, Jianhui, Gordon and Leon to come and help out. Eugene was supposed to be the coach but he told me he can't teach them the basics as he was not sure of the proper way to go about it. In the end I have to take over. I taught them the basics such as dribbling, passing, lay up and shooting. Later I let them play 5-on-5 on half court. The sun was really strong that afternoon and I felt it was rather hard to teach them all the basics all at one time.

When we learned basketball and trained, we had different time slots for various trainings and we often took a long time to learn the basics properly. All I can do then is to teach them some fundamentals and hopefully they will take an interest in the sports. Of course, the training sessions will appear dull and boring compared to the rest but I rather they learn proper fundamentals rather than not learning anything at all and enjoy playing a wild game.

Something unrelated to the camp ; We actually had planned to go to Ministry of Sound (MOS) for the People Association Youth Movement (PAYM) 35th Anniversary event but after entering the camp, we realised our schedules are rather tight so we dropped the idea. BUT Kelvin (YEC's Membership Secretary) wanted to go as he just finished his GCE 'O' Level (YES, he's only 16) and he was quite eager to go. In the end he called us and wanted to meet up with us. He then reached Ping Yi Secondary. Michael, Andrew and I then arranged to go ahead. Chee Meng and Alex wanted to stay as they wanted to assist their teams. So Andrew came over to my place and showered and we caught a cab. The driver didn't know about MOS and we have to call and check with Michael. When we reached, we were disappointed. It's just a Music Mix Night, with a competiton. Complimentary Drinks only for the first 150 people. I don't think everyone took just one. So we stayed a while and left. We then went to Bedok Interchange to get some supper and went back to the camp. Kelvin went home.

Back to the camp ; By now we were rather tired and Cassandra didn't want to sleep ...... (Remember the mental torture of the deck of cards?) So we kept playing 'Big 2' ...... By then Desmond was back from his sister's wedding and after a while we went to sleep.

The last part of the camp was the tchoukball competition. It was an inter-team competition and they set their own rules and play soon went underway. In the end Blue team won all their 3 matches and emerged Champion. We then had a Team Facilitators VS Team All-Star. Having played Tchoukball the first time, I was very clumsy and played the game like a basketball match with all the fakes and passes. LoL I left early to prepare the buffet lunch with Desmond and Team All-Star won. LoL. After that it was lunch, cleaning up and evaluation of camp. When we were done, it's about 5 p.m. and we left the camp. Initially Andrew, Alex, Chee Meng and I wanted to get a drink but two campers came along. I was so tired that I fell asleep there. Following which, I went home to bath and sleep. I took Monday and Tuesday to recover from the fatigue of the camp.

Afterthoughts;

The camp overall was fun and we bonded even closer. But maybe the campers were only Sec 1s and Sec 2s, I didn't really gel with them. I think sometimes they are too childish and naive and took many things for granted, for example, our care and concern for them. Another reason would be that I was a coordinator and not a facilitator so I didn't get to mix with them and got to know them better. We seem to have a distance between us and I didn't really get to talk to them as their facilitators will be there to help them. So I didn't know them like some of the SuperNova campers. And it might be better if the basketball session was split into two for them to absorb better.

#38 : Updates

I twisted my knee today while playing basketball. An old injury but I chose not to go for the operation. There's a long story behind it. Maybe I will explain further in future entries if there are people interested to 'hear' it. So I guess I will be out for a few days in terms of sports.

Well... this should be quite a lengthy entry. So brace yourself for it ...... Here we go ......

After the games, I walked with Xiao Weijie, a basketball friend to my place and waited for the bus with him. He had some family problems and we were chatting along the way. I can't do much but just suggested some ways to improve the situation. I knew him a long way back, around 6 to 7 years back when I just started hanging around Tampines 209 to play basketball and joined the CC team. We were in the same team once or twice only but we often played together outside. There was one period we were often going out together to hang out and play basketball with my ex-girlfriend (QT) Haiz...... His girlfriend then don't play basketball but she was always around.

While chatting on MSN, I saw one of my former school mate's nick stating that she has rashes. Yes, you KPOs out there, she is a gal. Actually I don't know how to state our connection. Former schoolmates? Friends? ECA mates? Or ......
One thing; she is definitely not pretty, attractive or cute. Average? Hardly I think. In fact she will blend in any crowds. And No, I am not insulting not putting her down.
She was from NPCC (for some of you out there; National Police Cadet Corps) during our secondary school days and I was from SJAB ( St. John Ambulance Brigade ) Every ECA (back then it's ECA) was fighting for honours in their areas, typical Dunmanian style. and of course, we were fighting for honours too (For me, it's more of slacking). We were also junior Librarians back then. That means we have shifts to look after the library once or twice a week. The Library In-Charge then was an assistant in the Science Labs. It was rather fun and interesting to look after the library, stack the books and key in the data entries. She and I often stayed in the library to help out after classes and went home together. To many, she was a quiet and unsociable girl but we got along fine. When we were in Upper Secondary, we were promoted to senior Librarians. I was tasked to look after the Multi-Media Room and was even given the keys to the Room so i could open the Room for other students everyday while she was tasked to look after the Main Library. We also had to plan shifts for Senior and Junior Librarians. Some of our school mates didn't really like her but I found it comfortable to work with her and chat with her. We soon spent all our free times in the library. Later on something happened but I forgot the incident and we soon distanced. It was weird having a close friend vanishing from your daily life. Our ties and connections hovered around friends and relationship but we never got down to clear the air. After so many years, she's still so stubborn and 'anti-social'. LoL Again, that's all for now.

Speaking of school mates, I have another friend; a classmate called Yuhui. GUY! We were also close friends but lost contact for some time. But recently we maintained contact through MSN, hopefully I can meet him up soon and have a chat with him. It seems he is going through a rough patch too. I'll update about him in the future.

Hmmm.... I guess that's all for now...... In short, nothing much about my day.

Memories Memories

Memories of Yesterday

#37 : New Beginning

Well it's been a while ......

Recently many things happened to my friends; one suffered a setback in his four-year relationship, one was imprisoned and another was facing personal problems.

Yesterday we had the SuperNova Christmas Carnival Meeting. We made some progress but we still have a long way to go. So keep hanging on guys, we need every help we can garner. Suddenly I have to head the project, wonder wonder..... let's get everything done people.
It's a messy meeting, with some of the stuff unclear. I should have done better but deep down i still feel strange about taking over this way and I don't like the idea of taking over like this and I think it is unfair to dump part of the work onto the facilitators and campers since they should have a longer time frame to settle other matters. I don't know if it is right to take over this way, it just feels weird and strange. Sigh.

After the meeting, Andrew and I went to Xiao Bai's place for our weekly training; mahjong.
Andrew displayed his never-dying spirit and marvellous mahjong skills. I was so overwhelmed. I guess he is ready for any mahjong compeition.

Today Andrew and I slept until late afternoon before waking up to get ready for Yinghui's surprise birthday celebrations. I arranged with Yinghui to meet me as we are 'supposedly' to go downtown to buy some stuff when in fact Andrew, Chee Meng, Cassandra, Gao Yang, Yingxian and myself are to buy a cake and celebrate for her. Everything went according to plan except for the surprise part. She wasn't too surprised -_-''' We ate the cake and went to play pool. I won Andrew woah! and we switched to billard as the gals are playing pool. Yingxian, Yinghui and Gao Yang left early to play basketball. We joined them later and played 3-On-3. Andrew, Yingxian and me VS Cassandra, Gao Yang and Chee Meng. I think Chee Meng got the sports wrong. I guessed he thought we are playing rugby. *Scratch* *Scratch*

After that we had a drink and went home. I felt quite tired after this half-day celebrations. Diao. Hope you enjoyed the celebration, Yinghui. Cheers.

I felt quite drained and uptight about the Christmas Carnival. On one hand, I want to set things right and make the carnival a success but on the other, there is insufficient support and I never felt right about taking over this way. It seems everything is done half way and left dangling there. Hang on.

#35: Rest

I found I like to sleep recently. An antidote for me to put troubling matters aside. I know it doesn't help but I don't wish to stay awake to be thinking and trying to make conclusions. The previous incident is a misunderstanding and I need to thank some of you for your help; Yinghui, Andrew and Patsy. However it doesn't mean everything is fine. I still haven't succeeded and pressing on. The days ahead should be busy as Yaoxing will be overseas, with the deadline looming on and my studies and other stuff.

Andrew and I went to work on last Friday, it's a dinner hosting the IMF, World Bank Meeting delegates from Bank of America. It was the first time Andrew was doing outdoor catering and it's not really a difficult one but it's quite an experience. I spent the weekend resting at home and doing minimal.

Speaking Softly Into The Air

#30: Down

Nothing much today. I went in the afternoon to Bugis to pick up the jersey for the Inter-CSC Netball Team. Next, I went over to the CC to pass the invoice and went to meet up Jingkai and Yip Kai. Then we shot some hoops and went to have dinner. Calvin joined us and later on, the three of them accompanied me to get something from my 'sister' living nearby. Calvin is such a 'Hongster'. We went to CC Mac for a drink and split ways. Have to get up early next day for the Inter-CSC Netball Competition.

I finally finished the book 'Angels & Demons' by Dan Brown. Eugene lent it to me sometime back but I was reluctant to finish the book as it was very interesting and I didn't want to finish so soon and be deprived of such entertaining novels. Splendid novels are hard to find and reading habits are harder to fulfill. A lot of interesting theories and twists and I suggest you people may want to give it a read.

I felt emptier as the days went by. I feel like being stationed in the middle of a wide stretch of grassland and I was alone. I am not aware of my bearings and I don't know how to walk out. Maybe there is no exit. The opponent was Beng Hiang Restaurant. Bad Omen. I met up with Daniel over at his place and went to Singapore Basketball Centre (SBC) with him, Alex and Calvin. We did our warm up and the match began. Beng Hiang was swift and quick in their passing of the ball. And they have a good touch beyond the three point line. What is equally awesome is their mentality and match composure. We have to learn from that. In the end we lost by 41. Quite a big gap but we really have done our best. Tough luck. I went back to Tampines to have supper with Guangyu, Daniel and Calvin then I made my way home. Next match: VS Eng Tat Hornets, next Wed at SBC. I bathed first and ate my breakfast while Andrew surfed the Internet after showering. ( He still has the energy to surf the Internet ...... ) We then slept for the whole day and I was almost late for the match. We then got ready and met up with the rest. Today is matchday for my Constituency Sports Club (CSC) which I am managing. The opponent was Kaki Bukit CSC. We reached Delta Sports Hall in time for the match. We only had 6 players for the match so we just had to do whatever we could. In the end we lost the match as we don't have enough players but there is a side note to the match. A player of the Kaki Bukit CSC was injured as one of my player clashed with him. I guessed he scraped his scalp and he was bleeding profusely. we then helped him to a corner while Andrew attended to him as he had received his First-Aider certification before his trip to Penang. We then stayed to wait for the ambulance.
We then went to catch the train back; the players had gone back first. Andrew went back home while I took the train back to Pasir Ris and got some food first before heading home.

Something To Share

While on the train back, I saw on the newspaper that Steve Irwin had died. I was so shocked by the news. A dampening end to a day.

Here's the news :

Steve Irwin, better known as 'Crocodile Hunter' died on 4th September 2006. The highly popular Australian television personality and conservationist was stung through the heart by the poisoned tail barb of a stingray while on a diving trip. He was filming a television segment shortly after 11am (AEST) in 2 metres of water at Batt Reef, about 32 nautical miles offshore from Port Douglas for a series called 'Ocean's Deadliest'. He was 44.
The crew members aboard the boat, Croc One called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) while awaiting a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced him dead later.

Steve Irwin shot to international stardom when his television program, 'Crocodile Hunter' was first broadcast in Australia in 1992 and later picked up by the Discovery network. His amazed shout of "Crikey!" when faced with a huge crocodile, poisonous snake or menacing-looking spider - which he would invariably then go on to manhandle - helped to transform him into an Australian icon around the world.

He leaves behind his wife, Terri Raines, their daughter, Bindi Sue, eight and Bob, two, who will be turning three in December.

Below is a brief history of his life ;

22 Feb. 1962 - Stephen Robert Irwin is born near Melbourne.

1991 - Irwin takes over the reptile park from his father, Australia Zoo.

1991 - Irwin marries Terri Raines and footages from their honeymoon becomes the episode of 'The Crocodile Hunter'

1992 - 'The Crocodile Hunter' is picked up by the Discovery network.

2001 - Irwin makes a cameo in the movie 'Dr. DoLittle 2'.

2002 - Irwin releases his first feature film , 'The Crocodile Hunter'

Oct. 2003 - Prime Minister John Howard invites Irwin to lunch with President Bush in Canberra.

Jan. 2004 - Irwin feeds a snapping crocodile while holding his one-month old son, Bob, causing an uproar.

Jun. 2004 - Irwin was investigated for a possible breach of Australian wildlife laws when he was alleged to clown around with whales and penguins while filming a document in Antarctica. I went up to the office to get the pass to the Reading Room so we could study in a more quiet place. I bumped onto Kelvin on the way and agreed to meet him back at the Reading Room later on. We went into the Reading Room and got some work then. Later Kelvin wanted to get some dinner and Yinghui and I followed. I saw some basketball friends and went to play a game or two. Kelvin went back first while Yinghui was kind enough to accompany me. By the time I finished, it was in the late evening and I treated Yinghui to a drink and a chicken pie. ( Thanks for accompanying me for so long ) Yinghui then accompanied me to my home while I got a change of clothes before we went to meet Stephanie, Andrew, Patsy, Yongzhi and Wei Ling (SP Leo Club President) They are coming back by coach from their trip to Penang.
On the cab, we chatted about some stuff and I hope that it will help Yinghui in a way or another. We met up with them at Golden Mile Complex and walked to Lavendar MRT Station. Patsy's beau is waiting there for her. While Patsy and her beau, Yongzhi and Wei Ling went westbound, we took the train to Bedok. Yinghui left first as she has tuition early next morning. ( Thanks again, Yinghui ) The three of us then went to have supper. Stephanie ate a bit as she is not feeling well. Andrew and I had only a few bites too. Andrew went to get some porridge and medicine and we saw Stephanie home first before making deliveries.
We then went to play mahjong over at Alex's before we made deliveries again.

That's for today.

#24: Minced Meat Noodles

Stayed at home the whole day. I went out in the evening to meet Xiaoying for dinner as she has some matters to talk to me. She really outshone me; she was late. We needed to wait a long time for the minced meat noodles so we had a chat while waiting. We talked about many matters and it's a secret. SShhh...... After that I went to meet up with Alex. We had a mahjong game with Xiao Bai and Alan. I have to wait for him and when he came, he was limping. Apparently he had sprained his leg. LoL We had the mahjong game and we were so loud, cracking jokes and laughing all the way. It was fun. At around 5 a.m. Xiao Bai sent us home and that concludes the day.

Stephanie, Andrew, Patsy and the rest are coming back tomorrow. I took some time in the afternoon to change the blogskin of Jingkai's blog and some adjustments. I didn't change much as I only knew the basics. I added in a song, the greeting message which was the lyrics of a song and some other minor changes. Hope he likes the new blogskin. I went out to meet Yinghui in the evening and we went to attend to some matters at Changkat CC. Yinghui was teasing me along the way, saying that I am not used to Andrew not coming and stay over at my place on Friday nights (So lame) LoL. As the matter dragged on, Yinghui was late, too for the meeting. (So Sorry) Nothing much happened during the meeting as I could only make it for the later part. As usual, we went for supper; Yinghui, Yingxian, Bernice, Yao Xing, Michael and myself. We teased and laughed during the supper. They actually put 'mua chee' in my food. Duh ...... I guess Yinghui should be very used to Milo after all this while LoL

Michael and I sent Bernice home first. On the way we saw Cassandra and teased her a while. When we reached the void deck of Bernice's block, she thought we were fooling around by pressing the lift buttons and not letting her take the lift. But alas ...... the lift was spolit LoL so Bernice took the other one. After Michael took the bus home, I walked home.

It has only been days but it felt like months ...... Let's hope things will pass by soon.

#22: Flying Off

I stayed at home earlier in the day. I arranged to meet Xiaoying at around late evening. Andrew, together with Patsy, Yongzhi and SP Leo Club Presdent was going to Penang this evening, taking the 9 p.m. coach from Golden Mile Complex. I planned to give him a surprise. I met my match today; she was late for an hour and 15 minutes. Bravo. We then shopped for some biscuits and stuff. It's meant for Andrew and co. to eat on the coach. In the end I bought Pringles and some bread from BreadTalk. I then shopped for some medicine to let Andrew pass it to Stephanie.
We took a cab down to Golden Mile Complex. Andrew was shocked to see us and I passed him the stuff. We took some pictures and chatted a while before they got on the coach again. Later Xiaoying and I went to stroll around in Golden Mile Complex. LoL we went to take a look at the Thai Supermarket and the so-called ' Thai Coffeeshop ' . We went back to Bedok for a late dinner and I asked Yinghui along, who was at Downtown East chalet. Along the way to meet Yinghui, Xiaoying went crazy and became a wrecko. I was so stunned and felt so helpless. There was this saying; If you can't beat them, join them! So I went crazy with her and fooled around.

We waited for Yinghui at a sheltered stage and we went for supper. I was poking fun at Yinghui all this while. Xiaoying and I sent her home first before I sent Xiaoying home. When we reached her block, we had a long chat and it was fun. After the chat, I made my way home.

The day was rather fun. Piu Piu ! ! !

STRAWBERRY ! ! !

#21: Norm

I did nothing much today; slack at home, read some notes and watched television. Hmmm...... A peaceful day....... In the evening I went to work and went home...... Yawn...

It's the second day of the 'tragedy' LoL Nothing much happened around. I went through some of the quotes and stories I searched for in the past, including the one I told Andrew some days back. Suddenly I wanted to write stories of my own or pen some of my own quotes. and I realised my vocabulary is rather limited. I guess I have to brush up on my English. Maybe. Reading those stories seem to enable me to vent out my emotions. I am all right folks, I am not being sad or anything. Not that I am feeling down, sad, angry or negative. I just feel more at peace and I guess in a way I spent my time wisely. I will stay positive ! So you people, Andrew, Yinghui, Chee Meng, Xiaoying, Bijun, Jingkai, Yip Kai and the people from SuperNova and others, be well and we walk through everything together. We will go through camps, meetings, outings, studying and whatever may come our way. Let's stay strong as a group...... I think I am mumbling more and more 'weird' stuff ...... LoL but people, you know what I mean; let's grow in strength. It's been a pleasure knowing you guys.

I did not name everyone as I definitely will miss out some people as the group is too large to name. For you people who I have named; I know we have patches in our life we have to endure and go through. Let's help each other, even for those I did not name. I hope you guys know what I mean. Cheers.

(Forgive me for being eccentric today)
(Below is something I experimented with)

#20: Twists

I had a long phone conversation with Xiaoying in the afternoon and I do mean long...... We chatted for about 2 hours. We crapped a bit here and there and chatted about other stuff. At least it is not something bad. Xiaoying: KEEP IT UP, Trust Me on It. After chatting with her, I got ready to go to work.

Nothing out of the norm at work so I won't elaborate on that.

#19: Setbacks

I was supposed to meet Yinghui at Noon to study but I had this terrible headache and I slept till 2 p.m. In the end I reached the CC Mac at 3 p.m. So sorry YH. I went through some questions she had problems with but it took me an awful lot of time. I just couldn't think straight with the headache bothering me. I was supposed to go to work in the evening but Heng Giap, my team mate and colleague called to help me change my schedule. Thanks for the trouble. Hence I was available to go for the match. It was the first match of the Second Round, VS D.O.S. I took the same bus as Yinghui as she was going to Pasir Ris to book a chalet with a friend while I went back to get my knee guards. Later I went to meet Alex, Guangyu and Calvin to take a cab down to Ang Mo Kio CC, the match venue.

We reached there early and started the warm up. We took the lead from the start but we couldn't hang on to the lead and lost in the end. It was a pity as we had the lead right up to the last 5 minutes of the game. We just have to put the loss behind us now and strive to play a decent game versus the other two teams. We stayed to watch the game between the other two teams in the group; Beng Hiang Restaurant and Eng Tat Hornets. It proved to be a fiercely battled match, with Beng Hiang Restaurant being the better team at the end.
We took Coach's car back to Tampines and Guangyu, Calvin and I going for supper. After that I went home.

Basketball Day

Today can be considered a 'Basketball Day'. I woke up around noon to meet Guangyu and the rest to get some matters settled and to have lunch. I have to lug the whole bag of jersey along with me as I haven't given the jerseys out.

After lunch, we walked to Pasir Ris MRT Station to take the train to Bukit Gombak for the Inter-Constituency Games. We went to White Sands first to meet up with Alex who's working there. I can't help but to poke fun at him about yesterday's match. LoL

It's a long way and I spent the time reading The New Paper and looking around. I glimpsed that Ze Xin and his company are on the train too. Match Opponents LoL. When we reached I went with Alex to buy refreshments. Bukit Gombak Sports Hall is very stuffy and rather small and we had a minor confusion when the players have to fill in the Declaration Form...... with ONE pen.

Match Time. It's not a very hard match...... we tried to widen the points gap and maybe we are too rushed...... Just managed to maintain a ten-plus points difference, at least everyone got to play and chipped in their bit. In the end we won by 18 points, 51-33. Next match : Kakit Bukit CSC at Delta Sports Hall. We just have to try our best, I won't think it will be an easy one though. Thanks guys, for coming down all the way to play.

Ze Xin and I had dinner before going to Singapore Basketball Centre. I have to draw lots for the Second Round and that will be after the last match; 9.45 p.m. So we just sat down and watched the matches. Eugene came down too. He was also at Bukit Gombak earlier. Well, I guessed I can't be that lucky everytime. It's not really a terrible lots I drew but the opponents are no pushover and they are supposed to be quite good. I drew D.O.S. , Beng Hiang Restaurant and Eng Tat Hornets. Well, no matter what we have to give it our best shots. ( Sorry Guys, i can't make it for the Second Round first match tomorrow as I am working)

Ze Xin and I accompanied Melvin to take the bus first before taking the MRT back. I got some medicine and porridge for someone before going back. Hope the person will get well soon.

Another long day...... I'm very drained after the rushing here and there. Well at least I didn't waste the day. Yawn...... Mr Chou, I'm coming to see you !

Long Long Day

Well, as mentioned in my earlier entry, Today was a long day. Andrew kept me up the whole night, insisting that we shouldn't sleep as we might wake up late. I am going with them to attend the LEO Club of Singapore Polytechnic Installation and Induction 2006/2007 Ceremony. We went to Tampines MRT Station to meet Alex and soon, we are on our way. We reached Dover MRT Station at 7.30 a.m. We saw Patsy and her beau and we went in Singapore Polytechnic (SP) together. As they don't have the keys to open the doors, Alex, Andrew and I went to the Guardhouse to request for them to open the doors. That took some time as SP covers a large area. After that, they went to change into their formal wear while I idled away my time sweeping the floor. -_-''' Stephanie and her father arrived soon. Her father is a LION from Malaysia and was here to attend the Ceremony. Later, I went to the Main Lecture Threate 10 to help out. Along the way I chatted with Stephanie's father. He thought I was a LEO but apparently I was not. LoL It's not that I refuse to be a LEO but I was not from SP and I don't think there's an opening for me.
I helped out here and there, with the banners and stuff and later helping to be the back-up photographer. Chee Meng joined us later. The event was running quite smoothly. Andrew prepared a video presentation and photos from the SuperNova Camp were included. After that was refreshments but I didn't eat much or talk much. I was not feeling too well and felt weary. Stephanie was busy socialising with other LEOs and company. She left soon with her father and the rest of us went back to Club Room.

Later on, Andrew, Chee Meng and I made our way to Queensway Shopping Centre to pick up the jerseys for Tampines East CSC. We took a cab back to Tampines as we are too exhausted. Andrew and I slept for a couple of hours before going to Singapore Basketball Centre (SBC). I have a match at 7 p.m. Andrew was too tired and he went back first.

I didn't play today but the team won. We had a minor scare in the fourth quarter when our lead was cut from 14 to 4 but we managed to hang on and secure the win. This meant that we qualified for the Second Round (Last 16) and I have to go for the draw tomorrow night. I was pleased that we fought our way into the Second Round. We will give our best shot at the Second Round. Cheers to the team. After a late dinner, we made our way home and I was really worn down. I had a quick shower and slept. Just woke up to check e-mails and to update the blog.

Meeting

I stayed at home in the earlier part of the day to sort out some documents and laze around. I went to meet Yinghui in the evening to study but I don't think we got much work done LoL I went to collect the keys to Room 3-8, the Meeting Room as I thought we will have the meeting there. It turned out that it was in Room 1-1 instead so I returned the keys and got the other set instead. Meeting went rather smooth today, though it didn't start off too well. The atmosphere in the beginning wasn't too pleasant but it was over and done with in a flash.

I guess I have to thank Jiayi, Esther and Bernice for making the trip down for the meeting and enable the meeting to run better and to the others too for forking out their time and putting in such commendable efforts. Let's hope we can get it running well. Thanks guys. Let's all try to work as a group.

After meeting, we went to have supper as usual. Andrew, Michael, Ee Sheer, Yinghui, Yaoxing, Alex, Chee Meng and I were present. Chee Meng gave us a treat today LoL and Andrew came over to my place. He wanted me to attend Singapore Polytechnic's LEO Club's Installation and Induction Ceremony. It will be a very long day tomorrow.

Something to Share

Pluto has been categorized by International Astronomical Union on Thursday, 24 August 2006 as a dwarf planet, thus stripping it's status as a planet, the ninth rock from the Sun. The reason for this is that under its new rule, a planet not only must orbit the sun and be large enough to assume a nearly round shape, but must "clear the neighborhood around its orbit." Pluto is thus disqualified, as its oblong orbit overlaps Neptune's.

Under the new definition, asteroid Ceres (A planet in the 1800s before demotion) and 2003 UB313 (Nicknamed 'Xena' by its discoverer, Mr. Michael Brown of the California Institute of Technology) and Pluto will be known as dwarf planets.
[Another object under consideration to be a planet in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) meeting in Prague, Charon (Pluto's Largest Moon) was not categorized]

Pluto was discovered after an extensive search for the hypothetical planet by the astronomer Clyde Tombaugh at Lowell Observatory in Arizona in 1930.
The name Pluto was supposed to have come from the Roman God of the Underworld.

After the change, the Solar System will have been in this order:

Sun - Mercury - Venus - Earth - Mars - Jupiter - Saturn - Uranus - Neptune

Learning

(Happenings on 22 Aug 2006)

Went to the Academy in the afternoon for lessons and picked up my textbooks. My goodness, they are heavy and I have to heave them back to Tampines after that. I'm meeting Chee Meng to study at the CC Mac at around 5.30 p.m. I SMSed Yinghui to ask if she wanted to join us. She agreed later. I was waiting for Chee Meng at the CC. He was late (My retribution) and I sat at the staircase leading to the Auditorium. I then saw Yinghui and we went to Mac first. Chee Meng then arrived. I didn't get to study much, unlike Yinghui as Chee Meng and I went up to the office numerous times to find Christopher to submit some claims.

After that we went to YES to buy some stuff and went to Bedok, to see Yinghui home and to look for Stephanie. Andrew has a sum of money to pass to her and he lives too far away. I guess it's for Leo Club matters. After Chee Meng saw Yinghui home, we went to a nearby coffeeshop to eat and llater sent Stephanie home together. We then took a bus back. Oh... And Stephanie will be going back Malaysia for some days on Wednesday morning. Bon Voyage.

Hope you guys have a better day ahead. I'm thinking of expanding the blog to hold maybe MP3, lyrics and quotes, like my previous hidden blog. Hmmmm......

Norm

A normal day. I slacked at home and did some studying before I went out in the evening to pass Guangyu his letters and to head to CC to submit some invoices. I played basketball a while with the uncles there and went to CC Mac with Guangyu, Swee Hong and Tissa, Weng Yew's cousin. Tissa was also my teammate for my first basketball team, Sheng You. We chatted about some stuff and Tissa left. We then went to another coffeeshop for drinks and talked crap there and I made a move home. I read some stories online, chinese short stories about love, current affairs and stuff.
I then got a Site Meter for the blog. Andrew wanted to get one too but in the end I thought he screwed up with his blog. Apparently, he had deleted some codes and was busy trying to fix the problem. Wish him luck. LoL I tried to check for him the blogskin that he was using but in the end I found some for my own use Haha.

Back to the stories. Some of them are quite touching, some you all might have read in emails and other messages spread around. I then searched for more and in particular about paper cranes and other short stories. Touching, I must say.

Side Note: I spoke about hope the other time. It appears I really have to keep my head up; I don't want to drown...... Others only see the so-called happy and positive side and not the other. I don't know how far I am from settling the problem for I don't decide at all. And I am troubled by the fact that things may not go my way. I have confidence in what I do for I count on my ability and hard work and my comrades around me but this is of a different nature. I can try all I can but I don't decide the outcome. So people, once again pray for me, like how I will pray for you people.

Chinese Astrology

While surfing the Net, I found information about Chinese Astrology, about the ' 5 Elements ' and our Chinese Zodiac Year. There are, in total 12 Zodiac Animals. Every Chinese Calendar Year has an animal to represent the year and 12 years form a cycle. Yet an 'element' will be attached to every Animal of the Year hence in total, there are 60 variations.

After I did some checks, Andrew is a 'Fire Rabbit' , Bijun is a 'Metal Horse' , Yinghui is a 'Earth Snake' while I am a 'Water Dog'. Each 'Element' Overcomes and generates a different 'Element' so they control and compromise each other. I shall explain more in my future entries.

Usual

Hmmm...... nothing out of the norm happened today. Andrew and I woke up in the afternoon and went down for lunch. We then watched this movie that was some time back. It was by Stephen Chow, 'Xin Jing Wu Men' and we were laughing non stop. Andrew got to meet his friends at 6.30 p.m. and there was not much time left so we just slacked around. I went out in the late evening to have dinner with Stephanie and chatted with her. After which I went home. Andrew was online and we exchanged some pointers about some stuff LoL. That remains confidential.
In all, a normal day.

MatchDay

(Happenings on Saturday, 19 Aug 2006)

I was supposed to meet Andrew at Queenstown MRT Station at 4.15 p.m. but I was late and I got to suffer the whole day. He was in a 'crazy' mode the whole day. We went to Queenstown Shopping Centre to settle some matters regarding the jerseys. Following which, I got Andrew to come along to meet Stephanie as she was not feeling well at Orchard. We planned to meet at City Hall MRT Station as we will pass by City Hall when we took the eastern bound train. Stephanie didn't see us on the train and we have to get off and wait for another train. We then planned to have our late lunch or dinner when we got back to the east. In the end, we alighted at Tampines and had Burger King. Stephanie didn't eat much. At first, we wanted to send Stephanie home first before Andrew came with me for my basketball match at Singapore Basketball Centre (SBC) in Aljunied but later she came along as she didn't want to go home.

Today's opponent was Bukit Batok CC. We started off well but we did not manage to widen the score gap, with the difference not stretching beyond 12 points and on seveal occasions they managed to pull back within a few points. In the 4th quarter, we managed to pull away and put in some good performance. I came in during the 4th quarter as my right foot was still hurting and didn't want to jeopardize our chance of winning. LoL I got an assist (Better than nothing) and we won by 19 points. Next match will decide if we can fight our way into the Second Round.

We went for supper after that and later Andrew and I sent Stephanie home. Calvin came along as he wanted to go to East Coast from Bedok. In the end he chose to go home and we sent Stephanie home. After that Andrew came over to my place as it was late and he helped to change my blogskin and added some other features. Thanks Andrew ! But there's a bit more to be done.

Side Note : There are things in life that we really have no control of and more often than not, these are the things that bother us the most. I am going through some changes and phases in my life, some of which I have no control over, The best or the most I can do is to pray and hope. Hope, a very unique and essential part of our life. A vital component in our life's engine-room. I can only hope that things will go my way, for I will lose my directions if it doesn't.
I hope and pray for you all, my friends and equals, that things will process more smoothly and proceed on a more positive scale. Thanks to Alex, Guangyu, Jingkai, Andrew (from Pasir Ris Secondary), Yinghui, Michael, Yao Xing and Chee Meng for helping out. We first helped to line out the table sheets and to place the chess boards on the table and to position the chess pieces. We had a hard time with the chess pieces as we were unfamilar with the positions. Finally we got it done and went to slack in the canteen.

I went to shoot some hoops with Michael and I went home to have a change of clothes before I set off for the meeting. LoL in the evening I didn't meet them for dinner as my phone was spolit and I didn't receive their SMSs and replies. I apologize to you guys.

I went in late for the meeting and Ken was there. Meeting went on as usual and after that the campers got to go back first while the Main Com. stayed for further discussion. Sijie later came in too. Ken pointed out some suggestions to share with us and I thank him here.

We went for some supper later on and had some chat and laughter. Kelvin, Chee Meng, Yao Xing, Michael, Yinghui, Ying Ying, Andrew (Small), Jingkai, Yip Kai (Kaissandra, LOL !) were there.

Chee Meng, Yinghui and I went to Bedok to meet Stephanie for supper. Michael was on the bus too as he lives in Bedok. After the supper I saw Stephanie home while Chee Meng saw Yinghui home. Then we took bus 38 back. If we didn't wait for the late bus, I guessed we would have walked all the way home or catch a cab halfway.

Patience, patience. I need to show patience. I guess this is something we all need to show and learn as sometimes in life we tend to rush forward or get fed up with things easily. Maybe the things we want in life really don't come easy so we have to work hard for it. But of course, I know, sometimes it is really very very difficult, especially when you are very anxious, edgy and restless. I know, I really do.

Long Day

It has been a long day. I started the day in the wee hours...... I took the same bus as Yinghui and Yingxian as I was around the area. We chatted and laughed along the way. Yinghui got off first and I alighted with Yingxian. I bought her candies and went on my home. Rested a while and went for my classes. In the afternoon, I went to the CC to settle some stuff, made some calls, booked the auditorium and basketball court for the Christmas Carnival and checked out the quotations from tentage companies and event companies. No concrete quotations from tentage and event companies as they need more information and details to quote. I guess I have to raise the matter to the committee then. After that I met up with Chee Meng and I asked if he wanted to tag along as I was meeting Yinghui for dinner. As usual, we made fun of Yinghui and sent her home. I got to visit her home as I wanted to use the washroom. LoL

After that Chee Meng and I went to meet Step. . She wanted to buy dinner and we spent some time with her, sorting her resume stuff. She passes me her previous Leo Club vest to let Andrew have a look. So many badges ...... Next Chee Meng and I went to Popular to get those hard plastics folders and we went on our respective way home.

A long day and I needed my rest so off to the so-called 'Lala-land'. -_-"

Screwed

Hmmm...... nothing much happened today. Andrew was supposed to call me to give me a wake-up call when he left the house. Instead, he MSNed me. Maybe I didn't realise that my MSN is loud enough to wake me up. I reached there at around 2 p.m. , just in time to meet up with the rest. Yinghui (The Main Culprit), Yingxian, Yaoxing, Alex, Chee Meng, Andrew were there and we had to fill in this form. So many formalities for a concert.
I had a surprise when I saw Shuping, my primary school classmate. It has been such a long time. It dawned on me that she was a follower of SOKA too, as I had seen her aunt pray before, when we were doing projects over at her house. Well she didn't really recognize me when she saw me but we managed to acknowledge each other. Memories were like rushing in, like floodgates. It has been so many years.
After making small chats with Shuping, I went in for the concert with the gang. As what I had suspected, they held a praying session before the concert. It was like 15 or 20 minutes and I could only close my eyes and held my head low as I didn't know how to react but I am used to these sessions. The performances were quite good, if you consider that they are only early teenagers. I have the intention to include certain performances into the Christmas Carnival Concert. We did make some enquiries about that and we left. Next stop : Tampines East CC.

There was a basketball clinic session for the residents of Tampines East and I went to make sure things are all right. Only Ee Sheer and her two sisters are there, with the coach and the session has ended. Ee Sheer, Andrew and I went to the office to talk to Christopher, our youth officer about the availability of some facilities for the Carnival and if we could do cooking in the kitchen. Yaoxing joined us and we had to wait for Christopher to check out the enquiries.
We went to eat at the coffeeshop after this and I had a chat with Yinghui about certain issues. I guess no one could help her to break free from her own traps. Fight for your happiness.

We went to Tampines Mall and Century Square next to walk around and we saw these dog tags. Maybe we could get one each and engrave 'SUPERNOVA' on it. That will be unique. Yinghui left first and we went to Challenger then to S11 for a drink. We took some pictures there and left later. A fun day but tiring......

EVENTful

Andrew was staying over for the night and he slept early while I browsed the Internet and did some stuff. Slept at 5 a.m. and woke up in the early afternoon. Andrew was already up and using the laptop. Later, I got to learn that he had started a blog too -_-'' Seems like he likes every movement I made. We went out to study and was supposed to meet up with Jingkai, Yip Kai and the other Andrew. It seems Jingkai's phone was diverted to mine and everytime Andrew called him, I got the call instead.
Later on, I went to get some stationary and saw Kaymen. Played a few games with him and went back to find Jingkai and Yip Kai there. They left earlier and petty soon, Andrew and I called it a day too. We went to the basketball court and saw Chee Meng. LoL, I couldn't recognize him at first and Andrew was the one who 'woke' me up. Again, I played a few games, this time with Andrew and we headed off to a coffeeshop for drinks. We talked crap, and stuff like personal relationships, the upcoming SuperNova Christmas Carnival, the recently concluded SuperNova Camp and the next SuperNova Camp. Next we went to the CC to draft the logistics stuff we had after the camp. We might need it for another camp. There, we chatted again and talked about relationships again until it was closing time for the CC. We had planned to see Chee Meng home first before I accompanied Andrew to the MRT station. In the end, Chee Meng thought we were supposed to see Andrew first to the MRT station and we ended up walking almost the whole of Tampines North Hahahaha.... Andrew looked so helpless. After sending Andrew off, I took a bus home.

Side Note: Today's conversation with Andrew and Chee Meng was rather interesting and fun and we had some ideas. So...... stay tuned, don't miss out on anything. LoL I have to say we gelled more and got closer. And we have to attend a rather interesting concert, thanks to Chee Meng, Hahahaa but for brotherhood..... No Sweat... so.......

'Click'

'Click' was a rather good movie. It speaks of this man working hard to provide a good life for the family, believing that this should be his first priority in life. As what we knew, time is a scarcity and more often than not, he has to say NO to the family due to work commitment. He chanced upon a Controller one day. One that could work on everything in life. He could fast forward life events he dislike or he could 'rewind' memories.

Things seemed fine at first until he found out about the catch of this gadget. It turns on auto mode when it detects certain patterns of his life, fast forwarding quarrels, illnesses and stuff. His life flew past him in an instant and he found no warmth and family love as he had always put work before all. He 'died', with regrets. He was given a second chance after that.

We often say, 'Time and tide, waits for no man' and to treasure what we have. But we never. The movie has served as a constant reminder to me to treasure what I have and to set my priorities right. Regrets are such daunting negatives. I don't wish to find what I value and treasure only moments before I leave this world. So guys, go for what you value and treasure, because after this lifetime, we will not have a second opportunity.

Cheers
Jinguang

National Day Dinner

5 August 2006

It was the National Day Dinner 2006 today and as usual YEC has two tables for members and in additional, three more tables for Kheng Chiu Happy Lodge (2 from YEC and 1 sponsored by James).
Before the Dinner, there was the SuperNova Christmas Carnival meeting to attend. Concepts were flying everywhere and we couldn't get down to meeting proper. In the end, I got Eugene, Chee Meng, Michael and Yingxian to discuss and guide the campers to go through their concepts and finetune it while the rest of the Main Com. (Yaoxing, Myself, Andrew,Patsy,Alex,Yinghui) went outside to discuss of the main structure of the Carnival. I could see that we have massive work in front of us.
Folowing that, we split into two groups, with Yinghui guiding some of the campers to Yumin Primary School and ChongZheng Primary School where the Dinner was held. They were to help out with Logistics as there were some miscommunication. Andrew, Chee Meng, Michael, Alex, Yaoxing and myself made our way to Tampines Mall to get some stuff, meet up with Ee Sheer and to proceed to Kheng Chiu to help the elderly to the Dinner.
Dinner commenced. I'm going to receive my 5 Year Community Long Service Award. Looking back, it seems like yesterday I had just joined YEC. From joining the basketball team to being an observer to joining the committee as a member. Time has flied, cutting through my life without mercy, leaving me to create memories for myself. When I went on stage, the rest of the gang was cheering me on and I felt gratified towards them. And I had to thank Victor, who brought me into YEC and taught me many stuff.
We fooled around during the Dinner (What's new ???) and it was a rowdy one. After the Dinner, Andrew, Alex, Eugene, Winnie and I went to Kheng Chiu to help out. Alex later went home first. We made our way to pick up Stephanie. We went for supper first before heading to Plaza Singapura for a movie. We watched 'Click' (2.20 a.m.) and it was a funny one, with emotions twined in the movie. I'll explain later.
After the movie, it was Home Sweet Home for us, thanks to Eugene sending Stephanie home first and then to my place. Andrew's staying over for the night. A long day but yea...... it was fun.

Cheers
Jinguang

Beginning

Since almost everyone has a blog, so I started one too.
